Hayley Matthews
100% Cricket Superstar
An explosive batter and a skillful bowler, Hayley Matthews stands out as a true all-rounder in women’s cricket, who could walk into a team for either skill alone. With her exceptional talent, Matthews ranks among the top three for both runs and wickets in ODIs and T20Is for the West Indies.
A multi-talented athlete, Matthews represented Barbados in javelin on the international stage before committing to cricket. Her cricketing potential was evident early, as she debuted for the Barbados Women’s team at just 12 years old and for the West Indies at 16.
In her first global tournament, the 2016 edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, Matthews was instrumental in West Indies' maiden victory, delivering a standout performance in the final against Australia.
Her consistent excellence earned her the title of ICC Women's T20I Cricketer of the Year in 2023, a spot in the ICC Women's T20I Team of the Year in both 2017 and 2023 and a place in the ICC Women's ODI Team of the Year in 2021.
After taking over the captaincy from Stafanie Taylor in 2022, Matthews has been pivotal in leading West Indies cricket into a new era under her leadership.
